About Doubleday Insurance Agency

Lew Doubleday began selling insurance in 1966 in Ankeny and the surrounding communities for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, then the world's largest life insurance company. In 1968 Lew began selling "all lines" through Farmers Insurance Group where he was one of the top agents in Iowa for eight years.

In 1975, because of the way a client was treated by Farmers,  Lew decided he could better serve his clients as an 'independent" agent and did so by representing a number of companies. Believing that anyone can sell you a policy, Lew strives to be the best when you have a claim. This is 'the time of proof, Lew believes. This is when the companies are separated, some pay promptly and fairly, some do not. "While no company pays every claim, we want to represent only those companies who pay what they do owe promptly and fairly, without hassle to our clients".

In 1980 Lew incorporated and renamed the agency Doubleday Insurance Agency, Inc. and we moved to our current office at 110 SE Grant Street in Ankeny. We are heavily computerized to equip us to service a large number of clients with speed and precision. We now offer all lines of insurance. Insurance is all we do, we have no sidelines.

Chad and Chris Doubleday have both come into the agency and have been here for over 13 years and are fully qualified to help you with your insurance needs.
